Why GPTZero flags your text
GPTZero uses two primary signals: perplexity and burstiness. AI models like GPT-4 and Claude produce text with very low perplexity and very low burstiness. GPTZero is trained to identify this pattern.
Method 1: Use a 3-stage humanizer
The most reliable method is a dedicated humanizer that specifically targets GPTZero's detection signals. Text Humanica's Pro model is engineered to maximize burstiness and perplexity. In our testing, Pro-humanized text consistently scores below 10% AI probability on GPTZero.
Method 2: Manual rewriting techniques
Vary sentence length dramatically, add specific examples and numbers, use contractions and informal phrasing where appropriate, and remove all Furthermore and Moreover phrases.
Method 3: Targeted sentence editing
GPTZero highlights individual sentences it considers AI-generated. Use Text Humanica's annotated view to identify exactly which sentences are flagged, then focus your editing on those specific sentences.
What does not work
Simply paraphrasing with QuillBot or adding synonyms does not reliably bypass GPTZero. Translating to another language and back is similarly ineffective. The only reliable methods are deep linguistic restructuring or a purpose-built humanizer.
